Ross/Wes, why do you have to get our hopes up about Thompson aggresively pursuing Haynesworth or Peppers? I agree he should, but I just don’t see it happening. I think he gets a bit too much credit for bring Woodson in. Don’t get me wrong, it was an GREAT move, but its not like Thompson went out there the first day of FA and floated a blank check his way. Woodson was on the market for some time and no one else was all that interested for his asking price. There are other teams that need d-linemen as much as we do, and I’ve got a bad feeling that Thompson will once again stand pat in the first few weeks of FA, watch all the impact guys get snapped up quickly. and then make his “big splash” by signing a couple of mediocre guys that no one really covets. Hopefully the pressure he should be feeling about needing a good season to keep his job will motivate him to do something. After all, its not like he gets to personally pocket any money that the team is under the cap (at least I wouldn’t think.)
