Predictions sure to go wrong….Hey guys I picked 10-6 I think when we did our little Lambeau family night podcast.
Personally I think thats where we’ll end up so here’s my take:
2008 Regular Season Schedule
Date Opponent Time TV
Mon., Sept. 8 Minnesota Vikings (WIN)
Sun., Sept. 14 @ Detroit Lions (WIN)
Sun., Sept. 21 Dallas Cowboys (LOSS)
Sun., Sept. 28 @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers (WIN)
Sun., Oct. 5 Atlanta Falcons (WIN)
Sun., Oct. 12 @ Seattle Seahawks (LOSS)
Sun., Oct. 19 Indianapolis Colts (LOSS)
Sun., Oct. 26 Open Date
Sun., Nov. 2 @ Tennessee Titans (WIN)
Sun., Nov. 9 @ Minnesota Vikings (LOSS)
Sun., Nov. 16 Chicago Bears (WIN)
Mon., Nov. 24 @ New Orleans Saints (LOSS)
Sun., Nov. 30 Carolina Panthers (WIN)
Sun., Dec. 7 Houston Texans (WIN)
Sun., Dec. 14 @ Jacksonville Jaguars (LOSS)
Mon., Dec. 22 @ Chicago Bears (LOSS)
Sun., Dec. 28 Detroit Lions (WIN)
I think we could easily end up 13-3 again or just as easily end up 8-8 if the injuries mount. We’ll see how it plays out but games like tonight, then Dallas at GB, at Seattle, Indy, @ Jacksonville…those will all be tough games.

Wow Patrick, you’re pessimistic. After watching how Aaron played on Monday Night (I’m not saying he was stellar, just solid) I’m going to go out on a limb and say 14-2 will be the Packers final season record. I do agree that we need to beat Chicago both games though. I’m not good at predicting game-by-game wins and losses, but I will say that their most difficult games will be Nov 2 at the Titans and November 24 at the Saints. Those games will depend on our special teams and defense.

Not really pessimistic John, I think the reduction in wins will be due to a couple of things.
1. Tougher schedule
2. Injuries
We are really thin at DT and any injuries in that area are going to leave us hurting. Also what if Woodson, Harris or, God forbid, both go down? Both have been nicked up all spring and now we learn that Woodson has a cracked toe. The OL is nicked up as well and it all starts in the trenches.
Add to that a tougher schedule and I think we’ll have a few losses in there that we didn’t have last year.
I could easily see us going 14-2…Hell if we stay healthy I could see us going 16-0 but I don’t think its going to happen…time will tell.
I think we win the north, and once you get in the playoffs anything is possible. One big thing in our favor…I think our return teams are VERY VERY good.

Actually, the Defensive Tackle situation doesn’t trouble me as much as others. You may recall there was some anxiety about having too many of those last year, until it apparently worked out during the season.
The injury situation is more troubling, but is less catastrophic than other teams have to deal with. In many ways McCarthy is very conservative with his team, and I believe the injury list is an example of that. AJ Hawk was even bewildered a bit by his time spent healing up, but said he respected the opinions of the doctors. That tells me that the whole team is geared towards keeping the players on the field for the maximum possible time the whole season.
While it’s admirable to be safe when playing with a lead, sometimes it can be infuriating. The series before the end of the first half and before the two-minute warning at the end of the game were huge black holes for the offense. I understand trying to protect a new quarterback from making a game-losing mistake, and laud Aaron’s character for following the coach’s lead, but it seemed to prolong agony rather than preserve victory. I’m hoping Mike loosens up as the season goes on, trusting Aaron to make a play.

Well if they had made that FG at the end of the half (and it was a very makeable FG) then this game never gets closer than 8 pts….
I personally didn’t have any problem with the end of the half or the end of the game. The last thing you would have wanted was for the Vikes to win because of a mistake that Rodgers made…can you hear the press all week? “Rodgers chokes under the Vikings pressure” “Packers wishing Rodgers was Farve away from the field” etc…etc…
I am glad that Rodgers played well and I am glad that we won and I think MM’s game plan was a good way to accomplish both.

I for one was never worried about having too many last year and ask yourself why again it was that it worked out? It was because we had a bunch of injuries at DT and ended up needing all that depth…What if we have those same injuries this year…OUCH!
