Game Day Audio October 18, 2008

Posted by Ross - a.k.a. The Fat Man in : Uncategorized , trackback

Received this email tonight and, since I watch the game with Wes via Sunday Ticket, I don’t know the answer.  Can anyone help out?

“Of course, we don’t get Packer radio in Southwest MO, and for times that the game is not televised locally, and I can’t make it to the sports bar, I was hoping to be able to listen to the games over an internet stream on my iPhone. The problem is, I have to find a feed that is in mp3, AAC+, PLS, or m3u in order to make it work. Do you have any recommendations? Thank you, and keep up the good work!”

Perhaps one of these stations: http://www.packers.com/gameday/packers_radio_network/station_listing/ has an internet feed in the necessary format.

The NFL controls the internet streams of games very tightly. Your only chance of getting the stream is subscribing to NFL Field Pass, and then using either RealPlayer or Windows media player. If the AAC+ is any indication, you’re possibly using a Mac, so be careful to use Realplayer 10.

Like John said, since the NFL started charging (remember the days it was free?) for Field Pass they keep close tabs on it.

Another cheap option is Sirius Satellite Radio. Last I knew the games were not available on the internet feed for Sirius but there are some cheap options of plug and play units you can use both in in your car and anywhere you have a radio. I actually used it while camping several times. Once you are hooked up it isn’t a bad deal at all.

Left out of that one above…they have both the home and away radio broadcasts of all the games.

Thanks for the help all of you! I was the one that sent in the email. I didn’t expect to get my own post for help! What service! I actually found one application for the iphone called WunderRadio that may work for me every once in awhile, depending on when some radio stations are able to air a game. I was able to hear the great game last Sunday out of some station in Georgia of all places. I really appreciate all of the advice.
